ELITE SPORTS SOFTBALL CAMP

Philosophy

Elite Sports Softball Camp is designed for players who are interested in improving their softball skills. The philosophy of our camp is to encourage and teach our campers a better understanding of game fundamentals and improve each camper’s individual skill level. We aim to provide an overview of all aspects of the game of softball, including offense, defense, throwing, fielding, base running, pitching, and catching through a combination of lectures, drills, instructional stations, and game situations. We teach fundamentals in a fun, yet disciplined and challenging atmosphere. Each and every camper will leave Elite Sports Softball Camp with improved skills and a greater love and understanding for the game of softball long after they leave camp. Get ready to have fun and see yourself improve.

Camp Director/Coach – Marlena Scialla

Scialla has been the assistant coach of an inner city softball team in Hartford, CT for the past three years. In that time she has taken a group of girls who have never played softball before from a record of 0-20 the first season to 6-13 two season’s later. She has helped coach at camps and clinics across the state, including Full Count Softball Camp during the summers of 2006-2007, Nike Softball Camp during the summer of 2005, and many softball clinics at Eastern Connecticut State University while a player there from 2000-2003. Scialla was Eastern’s starting center fielder for three years, originally taken on the team to be a pinch runner based on her speed and stolen base percentages. She brings with her a wealth of knowledge of the sport and a passion for the game.

Head Coach – Shari D’Amico

Currently the manager for Mattingly Hitting Products, Inc., director of Full Count softball clinics, and coach of X-plosion girls travel fast pitch team based out of Trumbull, CT, D’Amico lives and breaths softball. Last summer she was a member of the inaugural ProFastpitch X-treme (PFX) Tour, which brought 26 professional softball players together with amateurs for clinics around the country. She is also an Eastern Connecticut State University alumni, who played from 2000-2004, and was captain her final two years. While at Eastern, D’Amico was ranked in the All-Time Top Ten hits (164), batting average (.345), RBI’s (82), and total bases (226). She also ranked in two career fielding and two career pitching categories. She received the Best Hitter award three times, along with the Coaches award and Gold Glove award. Not surprisingly, she was also First Team All-New England in her final two seasons. During the summers she was a member of the Stratford Seahawks up to the 23 and under team. Her hard work and dedication have brought her far in softball. She is an excellent role model and enjoys sharing her talents and love for the game.

Coach - Lindsay Savelle

Savelle is also an Eastern Connecticut State University alumnus. She pitched for Eastern from 2002-2006 earning awards including Pitcher of the Week and First Team All-Little East Conference. She was also awarded with Female Athlete of the Year at Eastern. In her career, Savelle finished as the program’s all-time leader in games pitched and innings, was second in starts, complete games, strikeouts and third in shutouts. The summer to follow in 2006 she was a coach for Coast to Coast Fast pitch Softball in Australia and Hawaii, coaching 14-18 year olds.Currently, she is a coach of the X-plosion girls travel fast pitch team, along with D’Amico, and runs pitching clinics with D’Amico for Full Count.
